Why this has been changed?

Grafana draws an error now:

Validation
cannot parse "[object Object]": singleExpr: unexpected token "["; want "(", "{", "-", "+"; unparsed data: "[object Object]"

Templating
Template variables could not be initialized: cannot parse "[object Object]": singleExpr: unexpected token "["; want "(", "{", "-", "+"; unparsed data: "[object Object]"
